Arthur Miller was an American playwright and essayist. He was a promenant figure in American theatre writing many dramas throughout his career. Greek tragedy is a form of art (drama) based on human suffering that offers its audience pleasure. Ancient Greek drama is a theatrical culture that flourished in ancient Greece between c.55o and c.220 BC.Tragic dramas are written to be performed by actors/actresses in which a central character called a tragic protagonist. Oedipus was a mythical Greek king of Thebes. He fulfilled a prophecy that said he would kill his father and marry his mother, and thus brought disaster on his city and family
Oedipus' fatal flaw is that he constantly thought that he could outwit prophecies. He tried to escape the prophecy that says he will kill his father and marry his mother by leaving Corinth, but, in doing so, he actually fulfills the prophecy.
At the beginning of the 20th century the Italians were the main group entering the United states. Most Italians found unskilled work in America's cities. There were large colonies in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Baltimore and Detroit.
New York was the top venue for jazz in the 1940s
Beginning in the 1940s, New York City was the center of a roots revival in American folk music. Many New Yorkers took a renewed interested in blues, Appalachian folk music and other roots styles.
